school is underway

James seems to be enjoying school so far...based on what we've seen it looks like he is going to have a lot of responsibility this year. Seems like they are starting to prepare the students for middle school. He is working hard and we hope he keeps it up.
I've had two classes and feeling very overwhelmed! I'm sure it will all be fine but internship is seeming like A LOT of work. I just need to get onto a schedule. I am only working 3 days a week now and having wed off as well as fri is taking some getting used to. Currently I am working mon, tues, and thur...internship tues and thur nights to see clients. wed and fri to work on whatever needs to be worked on at the site...on top of keeping a house and running james around for baseball. I dont mind the baseball part since James is staying home alone after school and we aren't too fond of that. Plus is allows us more time with him since he is staying the nights he has baseball. Its a little tricky getting in routine when hes only here some nights.

The plainfield park district has created a "bike park" with jumps and different types of "skills" to practice. Its really a nice set up but scary at the same time. James got a kick out of it, wiped out, but no tears...

fall ball

tonight was james first baseball game of the fall... the neighbor boy jacob plays and james has become good friends with him. he begged us to play so we changed around a lot of schedules and are able to attend all the game. he hasnt played in a year so we were curious to see how he would do. he is doing well and thing it will be a great season. the coaches are great with the kids...

school update

tonight was my last night of class.... I officially only have my internship left. I start back up sept 2 for internship supervision.I am going to do some independent studies along with internship on parenting, step families and love...my internship is at v&r behavioral in orland park and homer glen. it is going to be a great experience.

James starts 4th grade on aug 31st. I cant believe he is going to be in 4th grade already. time just flies.

Until we both start back up I hope to do a lot of things to enjoy summer. we are looking forward to the beach and swimming now that it is finally warm enough. taking the dogs for walks...we have not done this yet!!! im so disappointed about that!!!! We will also be going to the will county fair and areosmith concert. Hopefully we will fit some other fun things in the next 3 weeks. I cannot believe it is half way through aug already. We had a good summer despite all our rainy days. James spent 4-5 days a week with us the whole summer. it is going to be weird when he goes back to school.

Bruinius family vacation

I had been looking forward to a week in sisters lake michigan. We vacationed there when I was a child a couple of times. I have gone back to visit several times for day trips. I really love the area. After a week of 90 degree weather the week before I thought we were golden. However, we had some really crappy weather. We arrived sunday to a beautiful day and a very warm lake. It was an afternoon of swimming, boat rides, and a bonfire. Monday was decently warm and sunny. We had another day of swimming but the lake had cooled off a bit. Tues, Wed, and thur were cold (in the 60's) and rainy. big bummer! tues we took the kids to get coloring books and playdough. We went to sophias pancake house for an incredible lunch. The rest of the day was pretty boring. Wed we went into southhaven for some shopping (nothing too exciting there) and had another good lunch. Thur dave and I spend the day driving around town visiting the different places. Dave golfed on monday and tues (his 2nd and 3rd time only) and really enjoyed it. James, Dave, Doug, Ava, Faith, and Ray attempted a chartered fishing trip on the St. Joe 3 times but the weather just wouldnt cooperate. Thur night we celebrated all the june and july birthdays with a pinata and cupcakes. (happy birthday gram, ben, james, gise, pam, patti, grandpa, and ava) Fri we had some visitors and it was finally nice out.... still a little cloudy but we would take anything at this point. Sat was another crappy day so we headed home instead of waiting and waking up sun morning to leave. We stopped at kelseys for dinner and it was great! The week was relaxing but the weather didnt allow us to have as much fun. We never had a chance for bean bag tournament or badminton or tubing. We did make a 1000 piece puzzle though. James birthday

This year we chose to take James somewhere instead of having a party since we will be celebrating with the bruinius family on vacation in a week. Today we went to the Cubs game and then tomorrow we hope to go to starved rock. James is having one heck of a birthday. Tomorrow is main gift is Areosmith tickets...he loves them on guitar hero so we thought we'd take him to the concert. Little does he know but he will also be getting a 4 wheeler later in the week. We chose to wait so he would be surprised (lets just hope his mom doesnt blow it b/c she is not too happy that we bought one for him)
