James' team finished 5-11 for the regular season and start playoffs this week. It was a tough season all around. Could have won a few more games (and I'll leave it at that)

James' 11th birthday party

The weather was perfect...not too cold, not too warm and it was sunny. We had a little over 50 people come. James had a few friends come over and he played for hours...basketball, in the jumper, and baseball...even glow in the dark baseball where they wore glow sticks, stuck glow sticks on the bases and filled the wiffle ball with them. His friends spent the night and were bragging how they were going to stay up all night. We told them they could but they couldnt keep us up too! they were all asleep within 1/2 hour and slept for almost 10 hours!!! They spent the next day playing too. Everything was perfect minus the fact that I dropped the cake!

We just got back from a weekend away in the dells. It was a very needed trip away. I've been working what feels like non stop between classes, the lab, teaching, the dermatologist, seeing clients, and maintaining the house and keeping up with James' baseball and social life. Dave has been working really hard on the basement, so we decided it would be nice to get away for a little while. We left fri morning and headed to Wizard Quest first. This was sooo much fun. Basically it is theme park with trap doors that you go around and try to free the 4 wizards. It is very neatly designed and hard to describe, so I'll just say I highly recommend it. We checked into the hotel and headed to our room to change b/c we wanted to go swimming. We walk into a giant room. (Take the bedroom part of our house away and that was about the size of the room) It was a large room with a king bed and its own bathroom. Another room was attached with a couch, 2 queen beds, its own full bath, a fireplace, and a private patio. I called down to the desk b/c this obviously wasnt the room I'd reserved. I was told that we were complimentary upgrade. It was a really nice surprise. We spent the rest of fri, sat and sun swimming and playing at the indoor theme park. We ventured out to another tourist place called top secret. It was the biggest waste of money. Im not even going to waste my time writting about it b/c it was the worst 25 min of my life. Overall we had a really great time. I thought I'd get more rest than I did, but oh well. I really love our family trips together.

kind of an emotional weekend....

Friday night James had a baseball game. It was his 4th game...they had lost the first 3, so the team was a little down. They ended up winning and winning by mercy rule (they were winning by more than 10 runs after the 4th inning) James had pitched 2 innings...the first inning a batter flew out, then the bases got loaded and then he struck out two players, keeping anyone from scoring. The next inning was 3 up, 3 down. Hes getting better with pitching but it still makes us nervous. He also got on base three times and scored 3 times. He ended up with the game ball. Here I stood getting all teary eyed!
Sun was of course mother's day. James wrote me a poem: youre eyes are blue like the sky, your hair is golden brown like a normal golden retriever (NOT LADY!), youre the nicest person i know. I love you....(lady is my in laws dog) He also made me 4 coupons with daves help...a movie pass, a day of cleaning, red lobster, and a massage. Once again he spent mothers day with us (stayed until bed time even b/c he didnt want to leave) It makes me feel good knowing I am the one he wants to spend the day with

Time is just flying....I can't believe I have 2 semesters under my belt already. This past semester really went fast. I survived the hardest class I thought I would have...advanced stats! It really could have been so much worse...I had a really good teacher and I passed with almost a perfect grade. I'm pretty excited to still have a 4.0 :)

World of Wheels

Dave entered his car into World of Wheels again this year and was accepted. We spent the first weekend of March at the Rosemont. The show was so busy this year. Dave took 2nd place. We had a really great time!

we have the best backyard

Our house backs up to an open field...its forest preserve that they farm. We get a large variety of animals...coyotes (not my fav b/c they want to eat my dogs), deer, pheasants, hawks, wolves, turtle (there is a creek that runs through too), ducks, ect. Some day I will miss this yard greatly. I always comment to Dave how I dont think Ill ever get used to looking out my back window and seeing a house...I love my scenic back yard!!
Recently there have been a heard of deer that come VERY close to the house. There is a very large buck who only comes out at night and my camera wont register enough light to take his picture, but I did catch some the other day...just not my big guy
